James Rowlands is a Qualified Social Worker and an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA).
James has over 10 years of experience in the domestic abuse sector, including work with both victim/survivors and perpetrators. His area of expertise is domestic abuse as it affects LGBT communities and heterosexual men. He previously worked in the Cardiff Women’s Safety Unit, where he set up the Dyn Project, as well as with CAADA (now SafeLives) where he managed the national MARAC Quality Assurance Programme. He is currently a Commissioner, heading up the Joint Domestic, Sexual Violence & Abuse and Violence against Women & Girls (VAWG) Unit between Brighton & Hove City Council and East Sussex County Council. As a side-line, he is a Board member for Respect, the UK membership organisation for work with domestic violence perpetrators, male victims and young people.
